Adventure Club - Wait
Hold on to your bacon and lumberjacks. The Canadian princes of dubstep Adventure Club are back after four months of taking over the world, and they’ve brought an exclusive premiere with them. Go ahead and take your socks off now. You’ll lose them in the next four and a half minutes, anyway.
“Wait” has womp and wobble for days, plus the added benefit of Karen O’s sultry vocals pleading for us to wait, courtesy of a clutch Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sample taken from “Maps.” This brand spanking new tune is just one of many big things coming out of the Adventure Club camp in the near future, so keep your ears open and your club cards ready.
It’s finally here! Enjoy
“Back in October, Kanye West appeared at the Occupy Wall Street protests in Manhattan. Though he was there only briefly and letRussell Simmons do all the talking, the experience must have moved him, as he and Jay-Z‘s gritty, violent video for their Watch The Thronetrack “No Church In The Wild” is clearly influenced by the protests and civil unrest that took place all across the country. And it’s easily one of the most visceral, relevant clips of the year.
The video, directed by Roman Gavras (the man behind M.I.A.‘s haunting “Born Free” video) and shot in Prague, features neither member of The Throne, but instead focuses on two groups: protestors and the police, both at war with one another. And yes, this is war — it’s an unsettling and savage clip, depicting protestors being beaten and pepper-sprayed as they mercilessly combat with the police, though the protestors-turned-rioters also inflict a large part of the violence: they destroy property, loot stores, and set fire to cars — and humans. The video refuses to take sides, as there’s no winner when a conflict turns to violence.
Popping up at the end of the clip is an actual elephant, and we’ll let you decide what metaphor they’re trying to make.
The Throne, who released their first LP as a duo last August, are currently on tour in Europe til the end of June. “No Church In The Wild” recently popped up in the trailer for Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby. Watch it here.”

Kimbra - Come Into My Head (Live on KCRW)
We’ve got a premiere for you on Lost in The World today. A new track by Kimbra called Come Into My Head was released yesterday via her soundcloud page… and let me tell you it’s a banger.
Showcases her talent and musical diversity. Indie Pop plus a little bit of Rock and Rhythm & Blues. Absolutely brilliant.
“Live recording of Kimbra performing on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic on May 24, 2012. ”
Kimbra - “Old Flame” (Live on KCRW)
Live recording of Kimbra performing on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic on May 24, 2012.
This is probably my favourite track from Vows, Kimbra’s album recently released in the US last week.
Kimbra once again proves her vocal and lyrical prowess on another expertly produced song. She’s on the come up and I feel another strong Indie pop cross-over US act.
We’ll see…
I think the horrifying events that took place in Nazi Germany have truly escaped the minds of Zionist.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, warned that the influx of African migrants is “threatening the fabric of Israeli society, its national security, and its national identity”,…
Hypocrisy at it’s finest
The earth, the earth, the earth is on fire! We don’t have no daughter, let the mother f*cker burn!”
Thus go the most memorable lyrics I have from a band in 2011. This abrupt line that kicks off the hit track “Dystopia” from YACHT’s ever-rebellious album Shangri-La sucked me in immediately, leading to YACHT’s placement as one of my favorite Indie artists, and one of the best of 2011. Their ruckus, no holds bars attitude delivers an oddly refreshing wave of energy upon the listener, a unique trait that they’ve perfected over time — while others seem to try too hard for the same effect.
But not all YACHT is yack. The well balanced duo knows how to hit hard as well as strike gently, and this diversity is perhaps best exemplified in a compaprison of “Dystopia” to their latest single/cover “I’ll Be Your Mirror.” The cover is short and sweet, offering a beautiful rendition of theVelvet Underground’s original.

May 19, 1925: Malcolm X is born.
In 1960, LIFE magazine assigned Arnold, who died in January 2012 at the age of 99, to document the days and nights of Malcolm X, the controversial and intensely charismatic public face of the Nation of Islam. For nearly a year, she followed the thug-turned-devout Muslim and activist from Washington to New York to Chicago. (Eve Arnold—Magnum)

Jordin Sparks & Whitney Houston - Celebrate
Before her untimely death this past February, R&B icon Whitney Houston came together with RCA pop songstress Jordin Sparks to craft a record for inclusion in upcoming film Sparkle. Today, we finally get to hear the fruits of their collaboration—the lead single off the film’s soundtrack LP, and the final cut recorded by Houston. On Celebrate, R. Kelly does his thing behind the boards, serving up a lightly funky, disco-informed backdrop for the collaborators’ bubbly vocal interplay. Have you fallen in love with this exhilarating jam? The Sparkle soundtrack is scheduled for release June 5, via iTunes; the film (featuring both Houston and Sparks in acting roles) is set to hit theaters August 17.

Producer, engineer and longtime Kanye West collaborator Mike Dean co-produced half of the Jay-Z/West album Watch the Throne, so if anyone is going to break any news besides the rappers, it’s him. Speaking to Quiet Lunch (via Hiphopdx), Dean confirmed that a sequel will definitely happen, though couldn’t disclose any specific timing.
“I’m working on the G.O.O.D. Music album of course, ” Dean said. “[I’m working on] Watch the Throne 2, which is not started yet, but that’s coming.”
Rappers have never been particularly good with timing and release dates, so don’t be too shocked at the lack of details. But yeah, I guessThrone fans can start salivating and begin the countdown.
Electric Guest - This Head I Hold
Get ready for an upbeat, foot tappin’, shoulder shakin’ track. Haven’t heard of Electric Guest? Needn’t worry friend, this song will not disappoint. Their forthcoming LP, Mondo, is produced by Brian Joseph Burton, aka Danger Mouse, aka praised producer behind Gorillaz Demon Days and Beck’s Modern Guilt. Needless to say, if you still had your uncertainties, they should now be floating in the realm of the nonexistent.
“This Head I Hold” is a deliciously infectious song with plenty of shining moments. It starts off as a charming ode to the 60s and eventually fills in the rest of the track with a kind of modernized funk that feels simultaneously retro and fresh.
The band, consisting of Berkeley native Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, as well as a variety of live accompanying players, will be releasing the promising Mondo April 24 via Downtown Records. You can also catch Electric Guest playing this week at Austin’s SXSW Music Festival. Expect to hear “This Head I Hold” at many hipster parties in months to come.
Exodus 23:1 - Pusha T feat. Dream
G.O.O.D. Music rapper Pusha T is hurting feels on his latest single titled “Exodus 23:1” and I do mean that literally. Just ask Lil Wayne who took to his Twitter account for this pleasant post: “F*k Pusha T and anybody that love em.” If a song as dope as “Exodus 23:1” has to include subliminals aimed at Cash Money then you’re just going to have to deal with it Weezy and let Drake dry those tears.
The name of the song takes its inspiration from Exodus 23:1 which states, “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness.” Very interesting considering who this song seems to be aimed at. Aside from Pusha, the song also features The Dream and a Biggie from “What’s Beef” (“ha ha ha ha ha”), further driving home the point that Pusha was firing shots. Since The Dream’s part is saved for the very end of the song it seems somewhat pointless, but overall a very dope effort.
“Exodus 23:1” will be featured on the G.O.O.D. Music ”Cruel Summer”, due out this summer.
